The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj, officially released Advertisement No. 05/2026 for the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination on 15 September 2026.

This landmark notification officially restarts primary teacher recruitments in Uttar Pradesh, sanctioning 12,405 vacancies across basic education and government-aided elementary institutions. The recruitment is conducted under the reformed UPESSC selection framework featuring mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR), a 120-question OMR examination with negative marking, and selection determined 100% on competitive written test merit.

Following representations regarding server congestion during OTR profile generation, the Commission issued an official corrigendum extending the initial last date of 24 October 2026 to 04 November 2026. Candidates must complete all stages before the revised closing hour:

12,405 Posts Cadre Breakdown

Under Section 4 of the official advertisement, the 12,405 vacancies are categorized by institutional department:

• Assistant Teacher (Basic Education Department - Urban): 11,508 Posts allocated across municipal and urban primary schools in UP districts.
• Assistant Teacher (Secondary Education Department - Sambaddh Primary): 897 Posts in government-aided elementary schools attached to secondary institutions (comprising 473 posts in boys' schools and 424 posts in girls' schools).

Application Fee by Category

Application fees are non-refundable and must be deposited through the integrated SBI e-Pay gateway via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI on upessc.up.gov.in:

• General (UR) / Other Backward Classes (OBC) / EWS: ₹1,000
• Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) of Uttar Pradesh: ₹500
• Divyangjan (Persons with Disabilities - PwD): ₹300
• Ex-Servicemen: As applicable per their original reservation category.

Important Statutory Clauses Decoded

Before submitting your application form, ensure you comply with the following mandatory conditions specified in Advt 05/2026:

1. Mandatory OTR: Every applicant must register on the UPESSC OTR module and obtain an OTR registration number at least 24 hours prior to final form submission. See our UPESSC OTR Guide.
2. Qualifying Documents in Hand: All graduation degrees, D.El.Ed (BTC) certificates, and UPTET/CTET marksheets must be issued on or before 04 November 2026. Result-awaited candidates cannot apply.
3. B.Ed Exclusion: In strict compliance with the Supreme Court judgment in Devesh Sharma vs. Union of India, B.Ed qualifications are not recognized for primary teacher recruitment under this notification.
4. Domicile Clause: Reservation benefits (fee concession, age relaxation, category merit) are admissible exclusively to bona fide residents of Uttar Pradesh holding a valid state Domicile Certificate. Candidates from other states are considered under General (UR).
