What Is UPESSC OTR & Why Is It Mandatory?

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has instituted a mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR) system on its official portal (upessc.up.gov.in).

Under this system, candidates enter their personal details, address, educational credentials, and biometric documents once. A permanent, 14-digit alphanumeric OTR Number is generated. Without an active OTR number, the system will not permit you to access the Super TET 2026 application form.

Crucial Reminder: Extended Deadline is 04 November 2026

If you have not yet completed your OTR, generate it immediately. Because OTR verification involves automated document validation that takes up to 24 hours, waiting until the final hours of 04 November 2026 may prevent you from applying.

Step-by-Step OTR Registration Walkthrough

Follow these exact sequential steps to complete your registration without errors:

  1. Step 1: Navigate to the Official Portal – Visit upessc.up.gov.in and click on the banner marked "Candidate Registration / One-Time Registration (OTR)".
  2. Step 2: Sign Up & Verify Contacts – Enter your primary mobile number and personal email ID. Click "Generate OTP". Enter the two separate one-time passwords received on SMS and email.
  3. Step 3: Enter Personal & Demographic Details – Fill in your Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Marital Status, and Domicile status. Ensure every character matches your Class 10 High School Certificate exactly.
  4. Step 4: Enter Educational Qualifications – Log your academic journey chronologically:
    • Class 10 (Board, Year, Roll Number, Marks/Total).
    • Class 12 (Board, Stream, Marks/Total).
    • Graduation (University, Degree Name, Aggregate Percentage).
    • D.El.Ed / BTC / B.El.Ed (Institute name, NCTE recognition, Final Marks).
    • UPTET or CTET Paper 1 (Certificate Roll No, Marks Scored).
  5. Step 5: Upload Photo & Signature – Upload scanned image files matching the exact pixel dimensions (Photo: 3.5cm × 4.5cm; Signature: 3.5cm × 1.5cm).
  6. Step 6: Preview & Final Submit – Carefully inspect the preview screen. Check spelling of parent names and date of birth. Once confirmed, click "Final Submit".

The Critical 24-Hour OTR Activation Rule

Upon final submission of the OTR form, the commission's automated background server verifies your Aadhaar demographic data and generates your permanent OTR Number.

In peak traffic periods, this verification can take between 2 to 24 hours. While your OTR is in "Verification Pending" status, the main Super TET application portal will not let you proceed. This is why attempting OTR on the final deadline day is dangerous.

Common OTR Errors & Technical Solutions

If you encounter technical obstacles on the portal, follow these verified solutions:

  • "Mobile OTP Not Received": Do not repeatedly hit resend. Wait 120 seconds. Clear browser cookies or switch from Chrome to Mozilla Firefox. Ensure your SIM card has active incoming SMS service.
  • "Image File Size Exceeded": Use a free image compressor to ensure your photograph is under 50 KB and signature is under 30 KB. Ensure the file extension is strictly .jpg or .jpeg (not .png or .webp).
  • "Server 500 / Session Expired": This occurs when the portal is left idle for more than 15 minutes. Always keep scanned files ready before logging in so you can complete the entry in under 10 minutes.

After receiving your OTR number, proceed immediately to the Super TET Application Form to complete your fee payment and lock your submission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is UPESSC OTR free of cost?

Yes. Completing One-Time Registration on upessc.up.gov.in is completely free of charge. Registration fees apply only when you submit an application for a specific recruitment advertisement like Advt 05/2026.

Can I edit my UPESSC OTR details after submission?

Most academic and contact details can be updated in the OTR profile. However, fundamental identity anchors (Name, Father's Name, Date of Birth, and Aadhaar number) require an administrative correction request.

Is UPPSC OTR valid on the UPESSC portal?

No. UPPSC (Public Service Commission) and UPESSC (Education Service Selection Commission) are separate statutory bodies with distinct independent OTR portals. You must create an OTR on upessc.up.gov.in.
