Strict Prohibition on Interviews for Primary Teachers

Under Uttar Pradesh Government service rules for Group 'C' posts and elementary teacher cadres, interviews are completely abolished. Any website or coaching institute claiming that personality interviews or viva-voce tests carry marks in Super TET 2026 is misinformed.

Stage 1: Written Examination (100% Merit Determination)

The written examination scheduled for 3 & 4 December 2026 is the sole decider of candidate selection. Each question carries +3 marks, with a penalty of -1 mark for each incorrect response. Following the examination:

  • UPESSC evaluates OMR response sheets through high-speed automated optical scanners.
  • A provisional answer key is uploaded with an objection window, followed by the final evaluated key.
  • Candidates are arranged in a descending merit list based purely on their net written marks out of 360.

Scrapping of the Historic 60:40 Academic Merit Formula

In the 2018 (68,500 posts) and 2019 (69,000 posts) recruitments, final merit was computed using the "Quality Point" formula:

Old 60:40 Formula (Discontinued): 10% of 10th Marks + 10% of 12th Marks + 10% of Graduation Marks + 10% of BTC/B.Ed Marks + 60% of Super TET Written Score.

This formula is no longer active under UPESSC Advt. No. 05/2026. The state government reformed the selection rules to ensure that all candidates—regardless of whether they passed their school boards in older strict eras or recent lenient scoring years—compete on an entirely equal, standardized playing field via the written competitive examination.

Official Tie-Breaking Hierarchy Rules

When two or more candidates achieve the identical net score in the written examination (out of 360 marks), UPESSC applies the following statutory tie-breaking rules in order of priority:

  1. Age Seniority: The candidate older in age (earlier Date of Birth) is ranked higher on the merit list.
  2. Training Qualification Marks: If age is identical, the candidate with higher percentage marks in the professional teacher training diploma (D.El.Ed / BTC / B.El.Ed) is ranked higher.
  3. Graduation Percentage: If training marks are also identical, aggregate percentage in Bachelor's Degree (Graduation) serves as the deciding factor.
  4. Alphabetical Order: In the rare event of all prior criteria matching, alphabetical order of the candidate's first name as entered on the High School certificate decides the final sequence.

Stage 2: Document Verification & Medical Assessment

Candidates securing rank within the cut-off boundary are invited to the document verification phase. Candidates must present both original credentials and two self-attested sets of photocopies:

  • High School (Class 10th) marksheet and certificate (proof of Date of Birth).
  • Intermediate (Class 12th) marksheet and certificate.
  • Graduation degree certificate and all year/semester marksheets.
  • D.El.Ed (BTC) / B.El.Ed complete marksheets and diploma/degree certificate.
  • UPTET / CTET Paper-I passing certificate and marks statement.
  • Uttar Pradesh Domicile Certificate (mandatory to claim state reservation benefits).
  • Caste Certificate (OBC non-creamy layer, SC, ST) issued in the prescribed state format.
  • EWS Certificate valid for the financial year 2026-2027 (if applicable).
  • Medical fitness certificate issued by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Stage 3: District Cadre Allotment

Following successful credential authentication, candidates participate in state-level district choice locking:

  • Candidates rank their preferred districts among Uttar Pradesh's 75 districts.
  • Software automatically allocates district cadres based on state rank, category reservation quotas, and vacancy density in each district.
  • Basic Shiksha Parishad issues formal appointment letters, followed by school allotment counselling at the district headquarters.
